Applications using Earphone with Biosignal Sensors
نویسندگان
چکیده
We propose novel ways of interactions using biosignals. We developed a prototype earphone with three kinds of biosignal sensors: pulse wave, electromyogram (EMG) and acceleration sensors. Using this sensor system, we implemented three new applications automatic music selection, tactile and visual communication and automatic metadata annotation. We also present results of preliminary subjective and objective evaluations.

Smartphone based ubiquitous sensing platform leveraging audio jack for power and communication
With the popularization of smartphones, various smartphone centric ubiquitous sensing applications, which use a smartphone in conjunction with external sensors for data acquisition, processing, display, communication, and storage, have emerged. Because smartphones do not have a universal data interfaces, many ubiquitous sensing applications use the earphone and the microphone channels of the 3....
متن کاملReference equivalent threshold levels for pure tones and 1/3-oct noise bands: insert earphone and TDH-49 earphone.
Reference equivalent threshold sound pressure levels (RETSPLs) were determined for 20 subjects for pure tones and 1/3-oct noise bands. Two transducers were used: a Telephonics TDH-49 earphone mounted in an MX-41/AR cushion, and a Danavox SMW insert earphone coupled to an "HA-2" earmold. RETSPLs for pure tones transduced by the TDH-49 earphone were very similar to those published previously. For...
متن کاملEMFi in wearable audio applications
Flexible microphone and earphone prototypes for wearable applications were developed by using ElectroMechanical Film (EMFi). A suitable application for the developed headset can be, for instance, as accessory of rescue services or sport enthusiasts. Due its versatile properties, EMFi can be used both as microphone and earphone material. The sensor operation is based on thickness changes caused ...
متن کاملSensory Chairs: A System for Biosignal Research and Performance
Music and sound have the power to provoke strong emotional and physical responses within us. Although concepts such as emotion can be hard to quantify in a scientific manner there has been significant research into how the brain and body respond to music. However much of this research has been carried out in clinical, laboratory type conditions with intrusive or cumbersome monitoring devices. T...
